The sun rose over the water as it had done for the past 8 mornings we had been here but the view would never get old! The mosque in the distance with the water and the mountains in the background looked magical. In my opinion the view in front of me would please nature lovers as well as people who enjoyed beautiful buildings and the mix of the two worlds coming together for me was perfection.
I've always found Mosques to be wonderful, beautiful buildings with a sense of calm around them. Religious buildings always fascinate me and I appreciate them all, but they are so different. I find Hindu temples beautiful and colourful and so much to look at, however Mosques are beautiful in a different way. They are sleek and calm, they have no human images as it is against Islam to have images of Allah or Muhammad so they have wonderful mosaics instead mostly made of ceramic tiles. The design of the buildings on the outside are equally as beautiful as the designs inside.
So we set off at 6.45am to walk around the coast to visit the mosque.
The sun started to rise and the mosque looked more and more beautiful the closer we got. What a lovely way to start the day.
Our last week at Tasha's consisted of swimming, eating and relaxing.
We visited Tasha's school to see what it looked like and where she worked. It was totally different from JRCS where we all worked at home. Tasha has palm trees outside her office for one thing.
We visited the Chinese temple one day.
I absolutely loved it.
There were amazing statues of the Buddha.
As well as lots of Chinese decorations.
It was wonderful to see this as it was completely different to the Buddhist temples I had visited in London.
We also saw the Chinese and then the Christian graveyards on the hillside which were very different to each other and also completely different to the graveyards in South America.
On Tuesday the 17th we went out for St Patricks Day. We went for a fantastic Thai meal. It was the first time I had a masaman curry and definitely not the last it was creamy and delicious.
We went to the Irish bar and I joined in a drinking contest and won a T-shirt and a green St Patricks Day teddy which I will be donating to our friend Patrick upon our return.
We met some of Tasha's friends from Sch who are all teachers originally from the UK and are all really nice.
On Saturday we had a BBQ with them all which was really nice and headed to a bar in town.
One evening during the week Tasha took us to a rooftop bar for a cocktail to see the sunset. It was wonderful.
We then headed to a local restaurant where they basically served all types of pig! Pork balls, pork rib, pork intestine, pork stomach!
One of the best days in Malaysia was the island trip. We went to the dock and got on a little boat to our first island with Tasha and her work colleague Sasha. The island was beautiful but very busy as there were hundreds of people snorkelling and scuba diving. It was great to see so many fish in the water. One fish actually started attacking my leg which was really odd, he just kept swimming and head butting my shin. Our second island of the day was my favourite there was only about 5 other people on the shore we sat on to have lunch. We went in for another snorkel and relaxed in the sea, it was gorgeous.
On our final evening we went to the Escape rooms. Apparently they have these in the UK so I am sure some of you have heard of them. I had never heard of them before but now I know how they work I totally want to do another one as I was definitely the weakest link as I was too scared to function. We get put into a room in the dark with a torch and Nathan in a straight jacket. We had 45 minutes to escape from the room! So we were using our torch to find the user name and password in the room to crack the code on the computer to them be given some more information. I listed a curtain and looked through a window into another room that was an operating table covered in blood and blood on the walls and looked like a scene from the movie 'Saw'. From that moment Tasha and Nathan did most of the clue cracking as I was so scared. We eventually got Nathan out I the straight jacket and into a corridor where we had to crack another code to get into the scary room. Once inside there we only had 10 minutes left and we failed and did not manage to escape.
I definitely need to do this again back in London and actually escape this time.
We had a lovely time at Tasha's. It was lovely to hang out, relax, eat amazing food and see what her life in like in KK.
